What you'll do

Two hours on a wooden dhow off the north-west corner, which is the only side of the island where the sun goes down into the sea. No engine once we are out — the crew sail her properly, and they will show you how if you ask.

The day, hour by hour

1. 17:00Meet on the beach at Nungwi

   In front of the fish market. Our crew will be with the blue-hulled dhow.

2. 17:15Out through the channel· 45 min

   Engine off once we clear the moorings. Drinks and cashews come out.

3. 18:20Sunset off the point

   We hold position for it, then sail back on the last of the light.

4. 19:00Back on the beach

   A two-minute walk to anywhere in Nungwi.

Where we pick you up

Good to know before you book

• You board from the beach into shallow water — bare feet or sandals you can carry.
• Nothing is served in glass and the deck is wooden; children are welcome but it is not a playground.
• If the sea is up we move the departure or cancel — never both boats out in a swell.
• Vegetarian, no-alcohol and birthday arrangements are all easy. Just say.

Can we book the whole boat?

Yes. Private hire is $320 for up to 16 people, including the same drinks and snacks. Request it and we will confirm the boat.
